How these guides are written
This guide tells you how we write the guides on this site, and how to find one.
This guide has a tour of the live site.
We write each guide on this site to STE rules. STE is Simplified Technical English. It is a set of rules for clear instructions.
The rules give short sentences, simple words and one meaning for each word. A person reads each guide before we show it on this site.
Help is in the header. You can find a guide with one or more words. Do these steps:
- Open Help from the header.
- Type one or more words in the search box.
- Click Search.
- Click the title of a guide to open it.
Some guides have a tour. A tour shows you each part of a page on the live site. Do these steps:
- Click Start the tour.
- Read the text about the part of the page that has the outline.
- Click the outlined part to try it.
- Click Next to go to the next step.
- Press Escape to stop the tour.
